Bully Busters

In New York the Governor Andrew Cuomo signed a bill passing that teachers are responsible to report any type of cyber bullying. There are varies of cyber bullying as in email, IMs, social networks and text messaging. This bill says that teachers will be trained to identify bullying at school and hopefully in the community.

Honestly I think this is a great idea but the fact that According to the Cyberbullying Research Center, every state but Montana has a law in place to prevent bullying. Forty-two states' laws include electronic harassment, and 14 include cyber-bullying.

America needs to stand up and advocate/influence children how to prevent bullying by not being one or to not be a by stander!

Restaurant Rules

http://www.zagat.com/buzz/the-10-new-rules-of-dining-etiquette

I already knew the normal rules and manners for eating out at restaurants and being fancy but times have changed and its the twenty-first century. We all know the traditional manners of how the males take care of everything and we just look pretty. How they open the door and take out our seats and being polite then paying for the meal and taking you home. Which I have no problem with its a new time with a different culture but I'm not saying the male should be rude and the females are inappropriate. I'm talking about the women can pay for their own meals and males would actually be appreciative if they offered to because we do live in the recession.

Another thing is dressing appropriately which I've come to realize has been a tricky thing to master ecspecially going out to a restaurant and don't want to be over dressed or under dressed. I believe for females its all in the hair and accessories. As for males its the casual collard shirt and dress pants. But thats for the usual date, people go on group dates all the time and the only rule I have is to tip on top of the auto-matic tip of the group bill. And don't forget to be nice to your waiter even if they're being rude just kill them with kindness and then complain to their manager afterwards.

terrible toddlers

Today, with the I.R.I.S.E after school program we went to the preschool across the street. We usually just go to the garden and do activities there but we went in the class and introduced ourselves and played with them.  It was a very diverse preschool but that's very common for my town. I said hi to a few kids and they attracted to me, they forced me to: play dress up, color, look for treasure, paint, play house and look at power ranger stuff.
After watching and observing these children I caught on to some of their behavioral differences and ignorance to things which was really interesting. But what really caught my eyes were the different hair styles the 25 kids had. But there was one little girl who was really shy that had in weave braids. The African girls had braids of course and the Hispanic girls had pony tails down to their lower backs. But the girls with weave braids shocked me because she was no older than 5 and was already going through society influence and she couldn't have the chance to express her own natural hair for preschool, how is she going to handle the world?

Wash and Rinse

I remember when I was a preteen my white friends asked me how often I washed my hair and unknowingly I answered them with confidence that I wash my hair once a week plus I wore braids so of course. But then they all looked at me funny and explained that they washed their hair everyday. Until a few years later I finally understood why and its because their hair and scalp produces more oil than of African Americans. But now hair stylists are coming out and telling everyone that nobody should be washing their hair every single day because it breaks down the protein and other particles essential for healthy hair. But what should we do about washing our hair then?

Rosemore Rams Restrooms

Blue dungeon walls with the paint peeling
Stuff not working like I called the plumber fifty times in six months
Wide open view, so you got to watch your back
Cracked tiles, water everywhere like a grenade was in here
Stained and abandon
Always have to squat
Appearance should be white but it’s as brown as Jesus feet
Running out of toilet paper equals new friends
Dirty tampons in the corner…don’t flush them down
Rickety rack tap can’t lock the doors

i was forced to make this poem thing and the steps we took was to go around our school and observe and write down a specific thing and i chose the restrooms. but this activity was kind of fun and pushed me to be creative in a way im bot used to.

Life Changing Movie

Just last month I finally seen the movie/ documentary Good Hair by Chris Rock and it was just a slap in the face. I recommend everyone who actually cares about their hair to go see it. But the thing that struck me the most was the reality check that many African American girls are going extreme lengths just to have the "ideal" hair. From dangerous perms/relaxers to expensive weaves. This is why I decided to cut back on burning my hair and go natural curls.
